Terms of use
By using Karya you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Karya. How we handle personal data is covered in our privacy policy.
Your account
- You sign in with your own GitHub account. Don't sign in with someone else's.
- You need to be at least 13 years old.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Be honest: proof, not promises
Karya only works if what's on it is real. So:
- Only add projects you built or meaningfully contributed to, and say what your part was.
- Only list achievements you actually earned, with genuine proof where you add it.
- Don't upload fake, edited or borrowed certificates, or pretend to be someone else.
- Keep your work and education history accurate.
- Only add people to a project team if they really worked on it, and only confirm teams you were part of.
A “Verified builder” badge means you signed in with that GitHub account. A “Verified” achievement means Karya checked it. Other content is provided by builders themselves, and Karya doesn't guarantee it.
What you can't post
- Content that's illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or violent.
- Other people's personal data without their permission.
- Malware, phishing, or links meant to trick people.
- Spam, or content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post. You give Karya permission to display it on Karya, in search results and in link previews, so your profile can be shown and shared. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where someone else has already shared it.
Help requests and teams
- Offer help only on projects you'd genuinely work on, with an honest one-line note.
- Help requests aren't for job ads, paid “interviews”, selling courses or services, or asking people for money. Karya limits how many requests you can send.
- Any arrangement you make after connecting (pay, ownership, credit) is between you and the other builder. Karya isn't part of it.
- You can block anyone; they won't be told.
Reports and removal
Anyone signed in can report a profile. A person at Karya reviews every report; nothing is removed automatically. We may hide or remove content, remove a badge, stop an account from sending help requests, or close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll usually tell you why.
Using what you find on Karya
Employers and visitors are welcome to browse and contact builders. Don't scrape Karya in bulk, use it to send unsolicited marketing, or use builders' details for anything unrelated to their work.
No guarantees
Karya is provided as it is, and it's still early. We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Karya isn't liable for losses from using it, including hiring decisions based on profiles.
Changes
We may update these terms as Karya grows. If a change matters, we'll update the date above and tell signed-in users. These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore.
